Budva

One of the oldest cities on the Adriatic (over 2,500 years of history), Budva combines a medieval Old Town, beaches, and a well-developed tourist infrastructure. The main attractions are compact—the center can be explored in 3-5 hours.

What to see in Budva

Budva Old Town

  • Free admission, open 24 hours.

  • Narrow stone streets, Venetian walls, small squares.

  • It's best to visit in the morning before 10:00 AM or in the evening after 6:00 PM (it's hot and crowded during the day).

Citadel Budva

  • A medieval fortress inside the Old Town.

  • Ticket: ~€5.

  • Opening hours: usually 9:00 AM–8:00 PM in summer (limited hours in winter).

Church of Santa Maria in Punta

  • One of the oldest churches in the city (9th century).

  • Free admission (sometimes closed outside of services).

Mogren Beach

  • A 10-15-minute walk from the Old Town.

  • Small pebbles, clear water.

  • Sunbeds: ~€15-20 per set during peak season.

  • There is also a free area.

Slovenska Beach

  • The main city beach.

  • Long promenade with a café.

  • Sunbeds: ~€10-15 per set.

How much time to plan

  • Old Town + Citadel: 2-3 hours.

  • Half a day with the beach and a stroll along the promenade.

  • A full day would be a good idea if you combine it with Mogren Beach and dinner in the Old Town.

How to get there

  • 30 minutes from Tivat Airport.

  • 1 hour from Podgorica Airport.

  • Buses run regularly along the coast.

  • Parking is limited in the summer; underground parking is available at the TQ Plaza shopping center (~€1–2.50 per hour).

Practical tips

  • During the summer months of July and August, the city center is very busy.

  • In the evening, the Old Town comes alive, with restaurants staying open until late.

  • If you're looking for peace and quiet, choose Mogren Beach over the central part of Slovenska Beach.
